ALCON MONARCH IV
The Alcon Monarch IV is an intraocular lens delivery system, designed to facilitate more efficient cataract surgeries. Alcon wanted to develop a product that would empower surgeons to perform surgeries with greater precision and effectiveness. To achieve this, the design team introduced a forward grip for better control, included cues for finger positioning, enhanced its ergonomic design, and incorporated distinctive design features at key touchpoints.

CATARACT SURGERY
Cataract surgery is a medical procedure to remove the lens of the eye when it becomes clouded. In the surgery, doctors remove this cloudy lens and replace it with a clear, artificial one, helping the person see clearly again.
The intraocular lens (IOL) is placed into the cartridge and then inserted into the eye through the incision. The Monarch drives the IOL out of the cartridge and into the eye. After the IOL is successfully implanted, the cartridge is taken out and discarded.
